Which are Zoning By-law Standards in Mississauga?
The use of land, buildings and structures within the City of Mississauga is regulated by the City of Mississauga Zoning Bylaw 0225-2007.
There are general regulations that govern the location and setbacks of a new porch, deck or balcony. Refer to Table 4.1.5 of the Zoning By-law for general regulations regarding encroachments and projections.
There may be additional provisions, such as lot coverage, in the zoning for your property. Check the general provisions. Then check the zoning regulations for your property using the Find Property Information tool.
Follow the zoning requirements if something in the general rules conflicts with the zoning requirements for your property. Even if you don’t need a building permit, your project must comply with zoning requirements.
You can find out the legal restrictions for a deck or porch on the same information sheets.
If your property is located next to land that is zoned as greenland, then any new structures may need to be built further away from your property lines.
Please check the setback requirements for greenland zones in subsection 4.1.8 of the Zoning By-law.
