Founder, Сonstruction PM & Carpenter at Demex Decks
Artem Snitko has been in professional construction since 2007, beginning with custom frame homes before shifting his focus to outdoor structures and eventually co-founding Demex Decks in 2010 alongside Andrew Smalonski.
Where Andrew brings structural depth, Artem brings design thinking. He works with homeowners through the material selection and layout process — translating a vague idea (“I want something modern, low-maintenance, and that doesn’t look like every other deck on the street”) into a buildable design with real dimensions, real materials, and a realistic budget. He’s completed interior design coursework alongside his construction work, and it shows in how Demex projects are detailed: board direction, railing profiles, lighting placement, transitions between deck levels.
Artem’s specialty areas include composite and PVC deck systems, glass and cable railing installations, and pergola structures integrated into deck designs. He’s the person homeowners typically deal with on material questions — the difference between Trex Enhance Naturals and TimberTech AZEK Vintage, why PVC outperforms composite in certain exposures, when IPE is worth the premium and when it isn’t.
Since 2010, Artem has been part of 300+ deck builds and 200+ other outdoor projects across the GTA — including work in Aurora, Markham, Newmarket, and Woodbridge. He holds TrexPro, TimberTech Authorized, and Fiberon installer certifications, and carries full WSIB coverage.
He takes the consultative part of the job seriously. Most clients have never built a deck before. Artem’s approach is to give them the same information he’d give a contractor colleague — material grades, real timelines, honest cost ranges — so the decision they make is actually informed.
Recent projects include a composite deck with integrated pergola in Aurora, a PVC low-maintenance build in Newmarket, and a multi-level design in Markham with cable railing.
